Transportation and Boundaries
Rains ISD boundaries extend more than 178 square miles, with RISD buses traveling over 1094 miles daily.

Residence within the boundaries of the district is a requirement for enrollment.  Applications for transfer are accepted.

Rains ISD
Rains ISD is located in Rains  County in northeast Texas .  There are one hundred seventy-eight square miles in the district, and the population of the district is about 9,100.  The district consists of pre-kindergarten through 12th grade with four campuses.  These campuses are located on a 50-acre tract approximately two miles northwest of Emory on Hwy. 69.

National and State Tests
ACT, SAT, National Merit Qualifying Test, ASVAB, Advanced Placement Test, Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS).  65.3% of Rains HS students take the ACT/SAT with the class of 2009 averages of SAT-1061 and ACT-19.7. TAKS results indicate that the Rains ISD achievement is above the state average in most areas.  Results denote the following district levels of mastery.

Teachers' salaries -- state minimum plus $2,425 for Bachelors and $3,425 for Masters.  The district provides $225 toward health insurance premiums through TRS Active-Care to the employee.
Required Documents
A copy of the student's Social Security card, a copy of the student's birth certificate, the student's immunization record, and proof of residency is required at the first time of registration for Rains schools.

Hours
The school day basically begins at 7:45 for all campuses.  Dismissal times are at 3:15 at the ementary, 3:30 at all the other campuses.
Meals
Hot breakfasts and lunches are prepared and served at all RISD campus cafeterias, with reduced-price or free meals available for those who qualify.  Regular priced meals are as follows:
